Due date
Definition. The due date is the last calendar day on which a Pakistani electricity bill can be paid at the lower of the two amounts printed on it; after that day the higher amount, which includes the late payment surcharge, becomes payable.
Also called: Last date of payment · Payment due date · آخری تاریخ
Where you see it: Bottom-right of the bill, immediately above the two boxed amounts — 'payable within due date' and 'payable after due date'.
Two amounts, one date
Every bill quotes a lower figure and a higher one. The gap between them is the late payment surcharge, and the due date is the switch between them. Paying one rupee of the lower amount on the day after the due date does not settle the bill; the higher figure is what the system expects.
The window from bill delivery to due date is typically ten to fourteen days. It is short by design, and it is the reason a bill that sits unopened on a shelf for a fortnight costs more than one that does not.
Weekends, holidays and the cut-off hour
If the due date falls on a Sunday or a public holiday, bank counters accept the lower amount on the next working day. Digital channels do not extend it — JazzCash, Easypaisa and bank apps apply the calendar date as printed.
Counter payments have a daily cut-off, usually around 3 pm, after which the transaction is dated the next working day. Paying at 4:30 pm on the due date at a branch can still land as late.
When payment posts against your account
Digital payments usually reflect within 24 to 48 hours. Bank counter payments can take two to three working days to reach the DISCO's ledger. In both cases the date that counts is the transaction date on the receipt, not the date the DISCO processed it.
Keep the receipt or the app confirmation until the next bill shows the payment credited. It is the only evidence that fixes the transaction date if a surcharge is applied in error.
Frequently asked questions
I paid on the due date but the surcharge was still added. What now?
Take the dated receipt to the sub-divisional office and ask for a surcharge reversal. If the transaction date on the receipt is on or before the due date, the reversal is routine and appears as a credit adjustment on the following bill.
How long after the due date before supply is disconnected?
Disconnection normally follows the second unpaid cycle rather than the first, so roughly forty to sixty days past the original due date. A disconnection notice is issued before the crew is sent.
