A plan for the Pakistani summer bill
Short answer. Four months determine most of a Pakistani household's annual electricity spend. The plan is to reduce the cooling load before the season starts, set the thermostat once and leave it, track the cycle weekly, and accept the slab you cannot realistically avoid rather than optimising uncomfortably around it.

March: reduce the load before the season starts
Everything done before the heat arrives is worth more than anything done during it, because it reduces the load the air conditioner works against for four months rather than for a week.
Service the air conditioners — filters and outdoor coils. Seal the pipe entry gaps and fit draught strips. Shade or reflectively treat west-facing walls and the roof slab. Replace resistive fan regulators. Convert the last incandescent bulbs.
None of it is glamorous and all of it compounds daily from May to September.
April: set the thermostat and stop touching it
Twenty-six degrees, with a ceiling fan in the same room. Agree it with the household once rather than renegotiating it nightly, because the repeated downward adjustment is where the consumption goes.
Set the air conditioner timer to stop a couple of hours before waking. The room stays comfortable through the coolest part of the night at no cost.
May to August: track weekly, act in the last ten days
Read the meter on the same day each week and project the cycle. That tells you in week three whether you are heading past a slab boundary, while the last ten days can still change the answer.
In those ten days, the levers are the geyser (off entirely — it is summer), the iron (batch it), the pump (check it is not overrunning) and the air conditioner setpoint (one degree, not five).
What to accept
If you run air conditioning, you will not stay under 200 units and protected status is not the goal. Optimising for a threshold you cannot reach produces discomfort and no saving.
Beyond a point, further reduction means being hot. The honest plan reduces waste — dirty coils, a leaking room, a geyser nobody turned off, a pump running long — and then stops, rather than spreading misery across a summer for a boundary you were always going to cross.
The one structural decision
For a household consistently above 600 units through the summer, the arithmetic on rooftop solar becomes interesting, because generation peaks in exactly the months consumption does.
That is a decision to model properly rather than to make in July when the bill arrives.

- Service air conditioners and clean outdoor coils in March, before the season.
- Seal pipe entry gaps and fit draught strips on cooled rooms.

- Set 26 °C in April and run ceiling fans alongside.

What is the realistic saving from a full summer plan?
For a household running two air conditioners, somewhere around 150 to 200 units a month from servicing, sealing, thermostat discipline and fan use together. Because slab pricing is progressive, the rupee value of that is larger than the unit count suggests.
My bill is high in July but I was away for half the month.
Check the cycle length and the reading status. A billing month labelled July mostly covers June consumption, and a delayed reading can stretch the period past thirty days. If June was estimated while you were away and July was read, July is carrying both.
