What is SSGC?

Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGC) is the government-owned natural gas distribution company that supplies gas to Sindh and Balochistan provinces in Pakistan. SSGC is one of only two gas distribution companies in Pakistan — alongside SNGPL, which serves Punjab and KP. If your gas connection is in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Quetta, or anywhere else in Sindh or Balochistan, you are an SSGC customer.

SSGC distributes gas across thousands of kilometres of pipeline to millions of domestic, commercial, and industrial consumers. It issues monthly gas bills based on meter readings using an OGRA-approved slab tariff, and provides online bill checking via its own portal. SSGC is regulated by OGRA (Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority), the equivalent of NEPRA for electricity.

SSGC service areas — Sindh and Balochistan

SSGC supplies natural gas across all major cities and towns in Sindh and Balochistan. Its distribution network covers:

• Karachi division — Karachi (all districts), Malir, Keamari, Hub (Lasbela)
• Hyderabad division — Hyderabad, Qasimabad, Latifabad, Kotri, Jamshoro, Hala, Matiari, Tando Allahyar, Tando Muhammad Khan
• Sukkur division — Sukkur, Rohri, Khairpur, Ghotki, Kashmor, Kandhkot
• Larkana division — Larkana, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Kamber-Shahdadkot, Qambar
• Shaheed Benazirabad division — Nawabshah, Sanghar, Naushahro Feroze, Mirpurkhas, Tharparkar, Umerkot
• Balochistan coverage — Quetta, Mastung, Kalat, Khuzdar, Turbat (where infrastructure permits)

If you are in Punjab, KP, Islamabad, or AJK, you are served by SNGPL — not SSGC. Your gas bill will show the company name at the top. Check the SNGPL bill check page if your gas is supplied by Sui Northern.

How to check your SSGC gas bill online

SSGC publishes an online bill checking facility on its official website. Here is the step-by-step process:

1. Find your 10-digit SSGC customer number.This is printed on every SSGC gas bill in the top section, labelled “Consumer No.” or “Customer No.” It is also available in SSGC SMS billing alerts.
2. Open the SSGC bill check page. Visit the official SSGC website at ssgc.com.pk and navigate to the online bill or duplicate bill section.
3. Enter your customer number. Type all 10 digits without spaces or dashes.
4. View your bill. Your current SSGC bill will show the amount due, due date, billing period, cubic metres consumed, slab breakdown, fixed charges, GST, and any arrears.
5. Download or print. Press Ctrl+P(or Cmd+P on Mac) and choose “Save as PDF” to keep a duplicate SSGC gas bill for records or official use.

If the lookup returns no result, double-check each digit of your customer number against the printed bill. A single transposed digit returns an empty result, not an error message.

Finding your SSGC customer number

The SSGC customer number (also called consumer number) is a 10-digit number that uniquely identifies your gas connection. It is assigned to the meter at the property, not to your personal identity — so it stays the same regardless of who the account holder is or which billing month you are looking up.

You can find your SSGC customer number in these places:

• On your gas bill— printed in the top section under “Consumer No.” or “Customer No.” on every monthly SSGC bill.
• In SSGC SMS alerts — SSGC sends billing notifications by SMS; the consumer number appears in the message alongside the amount due.
• On payment receipts — any JazzCash, Easypaisa, bank, or counter payment receipt for SSGC will show the consumer number used.
• SSGC customer service — if all bills are lost, the SSGC helpline can read back the number once they have verified the account details.

Unlike electricity bill reference numbers, which run 10 to 14 digits, SSGC customer numbers are consistently 10 digits. Do not pad the number with zeros or spaces.

What your SSGC gas bill shows

An SSGC monthly gas bill carries several sections. Understanding each one helps you verify that the charges are correct and identify why a bill might be higher than expected:

• Customer details — consumer number, name, address, and meter number for the connection being billed.
• Billing period — the start and end date of the cycle (previous reading date to current reading date).
• Meter readings — previous and current cubic meter readings; the difference is units consumed this cycle.
• Units consumed — gas used in cubic meters (m³) or Hecto Cubic Feet (HCF), depending on the meter type. This determines which tariff slab you fall into.
• Gas charges (slab-based)— the consumption charge calculated using OGRA’s approved slab rates. Each slab has a different per-unit rate.
• Fixed charges — a monthly fixed amount regardless of consumption, covering network maintenance.
• GST and levies — General Sales Tax plus any GIDC (Gas Infrastructure Development Cess) and other statutory levies.
• Arrears — any unpaid balance carried forward from the previous cycle.
• Amount due and due date — the total payable by the due date. A larger amount after the due date applies once late payment surcharge is added.

Download and print your SSGC duplicate bill

A duplicate SSGC gas bill is not a copy or an estimate — it is the same official document held in the SSGC billing system, showing the same charges, due date, and reference as the bill that would have been delivered to your door. Banks, landlords, and government offices accept it as a valid utility bill proof.

Once you have opened your SSGC bill online via the official portal, open the print dialog with Ctrl+P (Windows) or Cmd+P (Mac). In the print options, choose “Save as PDF” as the destination instead of a physical printer. This produces a PDF file that is identical to the printed output — suitable for uploading to bank portals, sending by email, or printing later.

Save the PDF each month while the bill is still current. SSGC’s system does not provide an open archive of historical bills, so the only reliable way to build a record is to save each month’s bill at the time it is issued.

SSGC gas tariff and slab rates

SSGC uses an OGRA-approved progressive slab tariff for domestic consumers. Gas consumption is measured in cubic meters (m³) or Hecto Cubic Feet (HCF), and each consumption band (slab) carries a different per-unit rate — with lower slabs attracting subsidised prices and higher slabs priced at closer-to-cost rates.

Key points about the SSGC domestic tariff:

• Protected consumers — very low-usage households consuming within the first defined slab qualify for the subsidised lifeline rate.
• Non-protected consumers — higher consumption moves you into progressively more expensive slabs. Crossing a slab boundary increases the cost of every unit in that slab, which is why a modest increase in usage can produce a disproportionately larger bill.
• Seasonal variation — gas consumption typically rises sharply in winter months (November to February) when space heating increases, which can push households into higher slabs during these months.
• OGRA revisions — tariff rates are revised periodically by OGRA. Check the official SSGC website for the current approved tariff schedule.

SSGC tariff revisions are separate from NEPRA electricity tariff revisions, and the timelines for their respective regulatory cycles do not coincide.

How to pay your SSGC gas bill

SSGC gas bills can be paid through multiple channels, all of which use your SSGC customer number or the bill’s payment reference:

• Mobile wallets — JazzCash and Easypaisa carry SSGC as a biller. Open Bill Payment, select SSGC, enter your customer number, verify the amount shown, and confirm. Keep the transaction ID as proof.
• Bank mobile apps — HBL, UBL, MCB, Meezan, Allied, and most major Pakistani bank apps support utility bill payments. The SSGC biller appears under gas bills or utility bills in the payments section.
• ATMs via 1Link — use any 1Link ATM and select the Bill Payment option. SSGC is listed under gas billers. Have your customer number ready before approaching the machine.
• Bank branches and post offices — pay over the counter with the printed bill. A stamped receipt will be issued. Post offices also collect SSGC payments in most towns.
• SSGC customer service centres — SSGC maintains payment counters at its offices in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, and other major towns. Contact SSGC directly for locations.

Always pay before the due date printed on the bill to avoid the Late Payment Surcharge. Keep your payment receipt or transaction ID until the next bill confirms the payment has been applied.
